Mark DeBellis

President, Financial Services Team | Corporate Vice President, Marketing & Business Development

Describe some of the clients/industries you have worked with.
I’ve been fortunate to work in marketing within a wide range of industrial and consumer industries, including Financial Services, Packaged Goods, Beverages, Foodservice and Wines and Spirits. This broad spectrum gives me insight and understanding into the needs of our clients.

What do you like about working with the team at Westamerica?
We have an unbelievable breadth of talent at Westamerica. It makes the privilege of serving clients even better. We routinely deliver award-winning solutions faster than others. Plus, the creativity within our solutions are out of this world.

A quote or phrase describing you or your job:
The harder I work the luckier I get!

If you could speak to one type of animal, what would it be?
A dolphin. They are the coolest animals. They’re fast, sleek and playful. I want to know how they seemingly keep their playful spirit 24/7. Plus, I used to watch Flipper as a kid. I know dolphins.

What is something that not a lot of people know about you but you WISH more people COULD know?
My high school counselor never thought I’d get into college, let alone finish and go to graduate school. Don’t put too much stake in the wisdom of counselors. And, never tell anybody they can’t do something.

If heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the pearly gates?
“Well done, good and faithful servant”. And right after that point me in the direction of the Italian Deli section.

Where is your happy place?
Anywhere my family is.

If you could meet anyone (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
Jesus Christ. Would love to have a personal conversation with him.

What makes you tick, what makes you get out of bed everyday?
Every day is an adventure. Sometimes I’m ready. Sometimes not. Just being in the mix is enough to satisfy me. I always try to do my best and learn. At the “end of the day” that’s all you can do.

What is your favorite word or phrase?
“Control the controllable.” We spend so much time trying to fix things we have no control over. How much is spent on prescriptions to help us deal with this?
